IREP'2017 Symposium Welcome

Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the IREP International Steering Committee and the Local Organizing Committee, I cordially welcome you to the 10th Bulk Power Systems Dynamics and Control Symposium – IREP’2017 in Espinho. The Conference is organized by INESC TEC, a research interface institution from the University of Porto, and is sponsored by EFACEC, a Portuguese electrical equipment manufacturer and software vendor.
The series of Bulk Power Systems Dynamics and Control Symposia was established by Les Fink in 1988 and is managed since 1994 by the International Institute of Research and Education in Power System Dynamics (IREP). IREP’2017 continues the previous experiences from Potosi (1988), Deep Creek Lake (1991), Davos (1994), Santorini (1998), Onomichi (2001), Cortina D´Ampezzo (2004), Charleston (2007), Buzios (2010) and Rethymnon (2013).
The delegates at IREP’2017 are coming from 4 continents and will be attending an exciting programme consisting of one Key Note Speech and more than 70 technical presentations. The Espinho Symposium will focus on The Power System of the Future: Global Dynamics arising from Distributed Actions.

Espinho is a maritime city situated in the North of Portugal, in one the most industrialised regions of Portugal – the Metropolitan area of Porto.
I wish you a very successful Symposium and an enjoyable stay in Espinho and in Portugal.
João Peças Lopes
Chair of the IREP’2017 Symposium
